About the GACC - The Gippsland Region
The Gippsland region covers an area of 41,434 square kilometres, which covers 18% of the State of Victoria. Gippsland is comprised of four Shires, Baw Baw, East Gippsland, South Gippsland, Wellington Shire Councils and the City of Latrobe. The region stretches along the coast from the New South Wales & Victorian Border in the east to Venus Bay in the west, Wilsons' Promontory in the south to the mountains of The Great Dividing Range in the north. The range of geographic features covers mountain peaks and alpine country to rich dairying and grazing flats along the coast. Some of Victoria's most productive agricultural and fishing enterprises are found in Gippsland. A combined population of 210,702 (approximately 5 people per square kilometre) live within the Gippsland ACC region. From 1991 to 1996 the populations of Baw Baw and East Gippsland Shires' rose slightly, while Wellington and South Gippsland Shires' and the City of Latrobe
