Gippsland Economic Development Practitioners Network  Terms of Reference

Aims

The Gippsland Economic Development Practitioners Network aims to:

  1. Provide professional development for economic development practitioners within Gippsland;
  2. Provide a forum for new economic development practitioners to engage in mentoring from more experienced professionals;
  3. Conduct activities which increase networking opportunities and promote co-operation between economic development practitioners within the Gippsland region; and
  4. Work in conjunction with existing activities and/or networks to avoid duplication.

Frequency

Functions will be held quarterly.

Membership

Membership will be open to economic development practitioners who have an association with or professional interest in Gippsland. In this instance, 'economic development practitioners' are defined as people who meet one of the following criteria:

  • Employed and/or consulting in the economic development sector;
  • Involved in governance of an economic development agency or organisation in Gippsland i.e. is a committee/board member;
  • Possess qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in economic development.

Special consideration may be given to inviting participation from a wider target group on occasions.

Management Establishment Phase

During the establishment phase, GACC will provide secretariat support to a Steering Committee.   This support will include:

  • A calendar of events for the first year of operation;
  • Coordination of events and activities;
  • Agendas and minutes of sub-committee meetings.

It is intended that the network become self sustaining, and be managed by an independent committee.

Review of Operations

A review of all operations will be held twelve months from inception, i.e. in May 2005.
