The mandatory Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) Scheme was introduced to help the environment by reducing water consumption. From 1 July 2006, if you manufacture, import, sell or supply a product that falls under the WELS scheme, it needs to carry a WELS label.

In addition, plumbers and builders need to ensure they don't sell or supply a product without the WELS label.

What to do...

  • Find out which products require a label on the WELS products page.
  • Find out how to test your product or register for a label on the WELS Scheme - Registering products page.
  • For information on labelling requirements under the Trade Practices Act, visit our Labelling topic.
