Project Progress
Five Working Groups are now in operation, following a two part Action
Planning Forum that was held in Sale in October last year. Members of the
groups are moving forward on actions which will be significant in
encouraging sustainable development in Gippsland.
| The Working Groups
are focussing on: |
 |
harnessing the region’s human
capital; |
 |
building networks; |
 |
infrastructure and proximity
to markets; |
 |
gaining greater access to
research and development; and |
 |
communications. |
If you would like to
participate in one of these groups or send them your thoughts contact

A draft Action Planning Document has
been prepared as a result of this forum. This will form the basis of a
strategy for action on sustainable development for Gippsland. You can
click on to the Project
Documents page to find a downloadable copy. Also on this
page is a technical report on Growth and Competitiveness in the
Gippsland Region and an information sheet summarising project
progress and background.
The Discussion Circle Kit
is being discussed by groups throughout Gippsland. The kit can be
accessed from this site and we are encouraging more people to become
involved. This and participating in one of the working groups are good
opportunities for people across the region to develop new networks and
make practical suggestions for sustainable developments and industries
for Gippsland.
Coming Events
In late March a day and half search conference is to be held in
Traralgon looking at sustainable future for Gippsland – turning concept
into reality. It will consider how to put strategies proposed as a
result of the GCBDP forum into action. A key focus will be on
sustainable water and energy issues. Watch this space for further
details of dates and venue.
